We stock and install BFT-compatible welding and fabrication parts across the Las Vegas Valley, with most bracket and hinge repairs running $340 – $780 installed, and heavier structural fabrication like gate frame reinforcement or operator mounting plate rebuilds typically landing between $900 – $2,400 depending on the steel size and access. Most jobs are completed same-week, not same-day, because welding is measured work, not a swap-and-go repair. The way owners usually find us: a gate that suddenly sags, a BFT operator that’s straining against a cracked weld, or a hinge that’s torn loose from the post after years of desert wind and daily cycles.
You’re not imagining it. The Las Vegas heat hardens rubber and plastic parts, but it’s the constant expansion and contraction that eventually cracks welds on gate frames and operator brackets. Dean Prescott has seen it hundreds of times: a gate that worked fine in March starts binding by July because the steel moved just enough to throw the operator’s travel out of line. That’s when the BFT unit starts overworking, and the real damage begins.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
Our welding and fabrication work covers BFT swing and slide gate operators across the current lineup and older models still running in Las Vegas neighborhoods. That includes the BFT Deimos, Phobos, and Rigel swing operators, the Kore and Max slide gate lines, and the older Aries, Arex, and Thalia units we still see on gates installed in the 2000s. The part that usually needs fabrication isn’t the operator itself, it’s the steel around it: the mounting plate bolted to the gate frame, the hinge brackets welded to the post, the rack mounts on slide gates, or the gate frame itself where years of stress have opened hairline cracks.
One compatibility gotcha that saves owners real money: BFT swing operators use a specific bolt pattern on their mounting bases, and that pattern changed between the older Aries series and the current Deimos line. If you’ve got an Aries that finally died and you’re upgrading to a Deimos, the old bracket almost never lines up. We fabricate a new mounting plate on-site rather than drilling extra holes into a gate frame that’s already got enough going on. On the parts question: for brackets and plates, a properly fabricated steel replacement from our welder will outlast any OEM stamped bracket, because we’re using heavier plate than the factory part and cutting it to fit your exact gate. For the operator internals themselves (motors, control boards, limit switches), we use OEM BFT parts or trusted equivalents from LiftMaster and Mighty Mule where they cross-reference.
We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with BFT, which means we can tell you honestly when a welded repair makes more sense than a factory replacement part, and we’re not obligated to sell you a new operator because a bracket cracked.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags noticeably at the hinge or latch end. This is almost always a worn hinge pin or a cracked weld at the hinge leaf. The top hinge carries the most load, and in Las Vegas’s dry climate, metal doesn’t rust out, it work-hardens and fatigues until it gives.
- The BFT operator grinds or groans mid-cycle. That noise usually means the gate has shifted out of alignment, and the operator is now fighting the weight of the gate instead of swinging it. A strained operator burns through limit switches and eventually the gearbox.
- You see a visible crack in the steel, usually at a weld joint. Look at the welds on the hinge side, the operator mounting plate, and any cross-bracing on the gate frame. Hairline cracks open and close with every cycle, and they only get longer.
- The gate wiggles or shudders as it opens or closes. Loose hinges, a broken weld on the support post, or a mounting plate that’s pulling away from the frame all create play, and BFT operators are designed for clean, smooth travel with minimal slop.
- The gate drags on the ground on the swing side. On heavier gates, the frame itself can bend or twist over time, especially if the gate was never properly gusseted. That’s a fabrication issue, not an operator issue, and it won’t fix itself.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For hinge replacements and bracket fabrication, expect $340 – $780 installed for most residential gates, which includes cutting the old bracket off, fabricating the new one from steel plate, welding it in place, and realigning the gate to spec. Full gate frame reinforcement or structural repair runs $900 – $2,400 depending on how much steel needs to be replaced, and whether we’re working with solid bar stock, square tube, or channel. The price goes up when access is tight, the gate is especially heavy, or the post itself needs to be rebuilt.
Every welding and fabrication job here includes a written price before any work starts. You’ll see the parts cost and the labor broken out on paper, not just a total thrown at you after the gate is already apart. The Kingswell Guarantee applies to every weld and every bracket we install: it’s written on the invoice, it covers the repair for 365 days, and if a weld fails inside that period, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s the same at every independently owned Kingswell location. Calls are answered by a live person around the clock at (725) 777-5391.

What you can safely do on your own: check the visible welds for cracks, watch the gate while it cycles and note where it binds or sags, and keep the hinge pins lubricated. That’s an owner’s job, and it helps the gate run clean.
What you shouldn’t do is grind out and re-weld a structural hinge or mounting bracket yourself. A gate is not a trailer hitch or a fence panel. If a weld fails while the operator is mid-cycle, that’s hundreds of pounds of steel swinging under power, and a BFT operator doesn’t stop because something broke, it keeps driving until the limit switch tells it to stop. We’ve repaired more DIY gate welds than we’ve been beaten by the original problem. There’s also the electrical side: the operator, the power run, any photo eyes or edge sensors, that’s all tied in. If you’re pulling the gate apart, you’re dealing with those too. If you’re seeing cracks or sag, call (725) 777-5391, and we’ll give you a real number before we touch a single bolt.
FAQs
A properly welded and gusseted steel bracket on a residential BFT gate in Las Vegas should last 15 – 25 years, which is far longer than most factory stamped brackets, which fatigue and crack at the bend points inside a decade. The weld itself is rarely the failure point; it’s the original metal around it.
In most cases, a cracked gate frame can be repaired and reinforced, especially when the crack is at a hinge, a weld joint, or a stress point near the operator mount. We cut out the cracked section, weld in fresh steel, and add gussets where the original fabricator skipped them. If the frame has multiple cracks and the steel is severely fatigued, it may be cheaper to fabricate a new frame and reuse your existing BFT operator. Call us with the details and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Most hinge and bracket replacements are finished the same day we start, usually within 2 – 4 hours on-site. Full structural repairs or gate frame rebuilds typically take one to two days, depending on how much steel needs to be replaced and how long the welds need to cool before we load the gate back onto the operator.
We stock steel plate, square tube, angle iron, hinge pins, and a range of universal hinge and bracket kits on the truck, and we fabricate most brackets on-site to match your exact gate and BFT model. What we don’t carry on the truck can usually be sourced same-week from our Las Vegas suppliers, and we’ll tell you that upfront before we start.
