We stock and install LiftMaster-compatible access control systems across Las Vegas, with most installations running $450 to $1,400 parts and labor depending on the keypad model, reader type, and wiring already in place. Same-day installation is available for most keypad and card-reader swaps we keep on the truck. Most owners find us after their keypad stops responding or the card reader starts rejecting every credential in the neighborhood, usually right when the afternoon sun has been baking the housing for a few hours.
The access control side of a LiftMaster operator is what tells the motor who’s allowed through. It is not the motor itself. It is the keypad, the card reader, the telephone entry box, or the antenna board that decides whether a code or badge gets the gate moving. When that part fails, the gate may still run fine mechanically, but nobody outside with a code can get in. That is the exact moment our phone rings.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
LiftMaster access control components pair with the LA400, LA412, LA500, CSL24V, and RSW12 slide and swing operators, along with the newer Smart Video Intercom line. Before you order anything, check the model tag on the operator’s access control terminal strip. The compatibility gotcha most owners run into: the LiftMaster 811LM keypad uses a different protocol than the newer 828LM, and plugging an older keypad into a newer board gives you a dead keypad that looks fine from the outside.
LiftMaster OEM keypads and readers run $110 to $420 for the part alone, depending on the model and whether it is a simple doorbell-style keypad or a full telephone entry cabinet. There are quality aftermarket boards that mimic the LiftMaster protocol for less, but we have seen enough of them drop offline during Las Vegas heat waves that we no longer offer them as a first recommendation. We will install an OEM part you supply, but our honest advice is to let us match the part to the exact revision of your operator board before money is spent. Portcullis Gate Repair Las Vegas is an independent service provider, not affiliated with LiftMaster, and we stock parts for operators from Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing as well.

Signs Your LiftMaster Access Control Installation Is Failing
- Keypad lights up but the gate doesn’t move. The keypad is transmitting, but the receiving board behind it is not interpreting the signal. This is usually a relay failure on the access control board, not the keypad itself.
- Codes work randomly or only after three or four attempts. The keypad’s membrane dome switches wear out from repeated pressing, especially in Las Vegas heat that hardens the rubber layer underneath. You press the number, the contact does not close.
- Card reader beeps but never grants entry. The reader is reading the card fine, but the credential data is not reaching the relay that triggers the open command. This points to a failed reader board or a corroded data wire.
- One or two buttons on the keypad stop working entirely. Individual membrane cells fail independently. When the star or pound button goes, the whole keypad becomes unusable for programming.
- The access control works in the morning and dies by mid-afternoon. Heat-related component failure. Las Vegas summer temperatures push a dark keypad housing past 150 degrees on the surface, and older circuit boards with dried-out capacitors fail when they get hot.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed replacement of a LiftMaster keypad or card reader in Las Vegas typically runs $350 to $750 for a standard single-family driveway keypad, and $600 to $1,400 when the job includes a telephone entry cabinet or a multi-tenant card reader configuration. The range is driven by whether the old wiring can be reused, whether the operator board needs a protocol-compatible revision, and how far the keypad sits from the operator enclosure.
Every quote includes the part, the labor, the wire terminations, programming of all existing codes into the new unit, and a walkthrough with you at the keypad before we leave. The price you see on the written quote is the price you pay, no after-the-fact add-ons. Dean Prescott insists on sketching the options and the number before any work begins. The Kingswell Guarantee applies to every access control installation: a written price before a single bolt is turned, a real arrival window, a clean job site, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the installation fails within that year, we come back at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do yourself: verify the keypad has power, check that the keypad backlight comes on when you press a button, and confirm the operator itself still opens with the manual control. What goes wrong for DIYers: the access control wiring in a LiftMaster operator carries low-voltage signal wires that connect directly to a live board, and one crossed terminal can fry the relay logic inside a $400 board. The keypad sends coded data to a receiver that reads a specific protocol, and matching a replacement to that protocol without the right documentation leads to a new part that will not talk to the old board.
We have also taken apart enough DIY keypad swaps where the homeowner stripped the access control wires right back to the 120-volt service leads. If you are not confident with low-voltage wiring and multimode boards, call us at (725) 777-5391 and we will get a technician to your driveway with the right part already on the truck.
FAQs
Most LiftMaster access control keypads and readers in Las Vegas last 5 to 8 years, with the heat being the primary killer of the membrane keypads and the circuit boards behind them. A keypad mounted in full afternoon sun on a west-facing column will fail sooner than one shaded by a wall or landscape. Call (725) 777-5391 if your keypad is past the five-year mark and starting to act up; we can diagnose it before it strands someone outside the gate.
We can sometimes repair a LiftMaster keypad if the problem is a corroded terminal or a single damaged wire, but a worn membrane or a failed circuit board cannot be economically rebuilt. We will tell you honestly which one you have before quoting a replacement. Call (725) 777-5391 and describe what the keypad is doing, and we will give you a real answer.
Most single-keypad or single-reader installations take 60 to 90 minutes from arrival to programming test, and we can usually dispatch same-day for standard keypad swaps we carry on the truck. If the job involves a telephone entry cabinet or multiple card readers, we will schedule a longer window so the programming is correct the first time. Estimates are free, and the price is written before any work starts.
Yes, our Las Vegas trucks carry the most common LiftMaster keypad and reader models, including the 811LM and 828LM keypads, backup receiver boards for the LA400 and LA500 series, and the common antenna boards that fail in heat. If we need a less common part, we can typically have it ready within two business days. Call (725) 777-5391 to confirm what we have on hand for your model.
