Most Mighty Mule welding and fabrication work in Las Vegas runs $220 – $480 installed, and we can usually get your gate swinging again the same day we diagnose it. The most common call we get sounds like this: the gate worked fine for years, then one afternoon it started dragging, squealing, or refusing to close all the way, and now the opener keeps tripping its safety reverse. That’s almost always a weld that finally let go or a bracket that fatigued under years of desert wind load.
We stock Mighty Mule-compatible weldments and fabrication pieces on our trucks, and we fabricate replacements in-house when the factory part is backordered or discontinued. If your gate post has hairline cracks radiating from the hinge welds, or the actuator mount is wallowed out, you’re in the right place. We’ll match the part to your exact Mighty Mule model, give you a written price before any cutting or welding starts, and stand behind the metal with the same 365-day guarantee we put on every repair.
Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To
The fabrication components we work with fit the entire Mighty Mule swing-gate lineup: the MM371W, MM372W, MM571W, MM572W, and the newer MMS371 and MMS571 series, plus the older FM500 and FM502 units still running all over Henderson and Summerlin. The parts that typically need welding or fabricated replacement are the post bracket assemblies, the gate mounting brackets, the actuator clevis mounts, and the pull-to-open or push-to-open pivot plates.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners hit: Mighty Mule has changed bracket dimensions between series, not just between models. The MM371W post bracket is not the same as the MM571W post bracket, even though both are single-swing actuators. The bolt-hole spread, the bracket depth, and the pin diameter differ. If you weld a bracket from the wrong series onto your post, the actuator will bind at mid-travel and burn out its capacitor in a season. We verify the part number against the serial sticker on the actuator gearbox or control board before we fabricate or install anything.
For OEM versus aftermarket, we’re straightforward: Mighty Mule factory brackets are powder-coated mild steel, typically 11-gauge, and they’re fine for most installations. But in Las Vegas, where a 40 mph afternoon gust slams a gate over and over, the factory clevis ears stretch out faster than people expect. When we fabricate a replacement, we step up to 3/16-inch plate and weld both sides, then drill the pin hole to the exact factory diameter so there’s no slop from day one. If the original part is still available and in good shape, we’ll use it. If it’s not, our fabricated piece usually outlasts it.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags and scrapes the ground at the latch end. This usually means the hinge welds on the post or the gate frame itself are fatigued, and the whole gate is dropping. The actuator keeps pushing against a gate that’s no longer square, which strains the mount with every cycle.
- The actuator pops off its bracket or makes a clunking sound at the end of travel. The clevis pin hole has wallowed out, or the bracket ears have spread. That clunk is the pin slamming side to side in an oversized hole.
- You see fresh rust streaking from a weld joint, or the powder coat has cracked in a line around the bracket. That crack line follows the original weld, which means the weld itself is failing underneath the coating. It’s not cosmetic; it’s the metal telling you the joint is done.
- One gate leaf doesn’t fully open or close anymore, and the actuator runs a second or two longer than it used to. A bent or cracked pivot plate changes the travel geometry, so the actuator has to push farther to get the same movement. The limit switches don’t compensate for mechanical wear.
- The gate post is leaning or the bracket bolts keep loosening no matter how often you tighten them. When the fabrication isn’t holding, the bolts take all the load, and bolts in shear loosen fast. A leaning post with tight bolts means the metal around the bolt holes is deforming.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, here’s what you can expect to pay for common Mighty Mule fabrication work:
- Actuator clevis mount replacement (parts and labor): $220 – $380. Includes cutting off the old mount, fabricating or installing the replacement, and setting the travel geometry.
- Post bracket replacement with re-welding to a steel post: $180 – $320. More if the post itself needs reinforcement plate added.
- Full weldment reinforcement (both gate leaves plus post brackets): $380 – $480. We grind, weld, and re-coat the stress points that are still sound plus replace the ones that aren’t.
- Custom fabrication for discontinued Mighty Mule parts: $150 – $400 depending on complexity, quoted before any work starts.
Every one of those numbers includes the part, the labor, and the written Kingswell Guarantee on the work for 365 days. You get the price in writing before we strike an arc, so there’s no surprise at the end. If the repair fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Welding on a gate system is not a weekend DIY job, and we want to be honest about why. A Mighty Mule actuator carries the full weight of a metal gate through hundreds of cycles a day, and a weld that looks good on the surface can be cold underneath if you don’t have the right amperage, rod, and prep. A failed weld on a moving gate isn’t just a nuisance; it can drop a 300-pound leaf onto a car, a kid, or a delivery driver. That’s the reason we don’t write out step-by-step welding instructions here.
What you can safely do is document the damage: take photos of every bracket, both hinge points, and the post from three angles. Try to wiggle each bracket by hand with the gate in manual mode. Then call us at (725) 777-5391. We’ll ask what the gate is doing, or not doing, and often we can give you a price range over the phone before we even roll a truck. Dean Prescott sketches out repair options and real numbers before a single bolt gets touched.
FAQs
Factory brackets in Las Vegas typically last 5 – 8 years before the clevis holes stretch or the welds fatigue, because desert heat bakes the powder coat and afternoon gusts shock-load the mounts. Our fabricated replacements use thicker plate and full-penetration welds, and most are still in service 10+ years later. If yours is showing cracks before year five, the bracket was likely undersized for your gate’s weight from day one.
Call (725) 777-5391 and we’ll inspect your setup and give you a straight answer on what will actually hold.
If the crack is hairline and the surrounding metal is still sound, yes, we can grind, weld, and re-coat the original bracket for less than a full replacement. But if the clevis hole is egg-shaped or the bracket ears have spread, welding won’t fix the geometry; it needs to be replaced or re-fabricated. We’ll show you the cracked piece before we do anything, and let you decide.
Most single-gate fabrication repairs take 90 minutes to 3 hours on site, including re-setting the actuator travel and testing full open and close cycles under power. If we need to fabricate a custom piece in-house, same-day is still typical; we keep steel plate and pre-cut blanks for the common Mighty Mule series on the truck. We’ll tell you the expected time window when you call.
We stock clevis mounts, post bracket blanks, and pivot plates for the MM371, MM572, and FM500 series, plus generic plate stock we can cut and drill on site for most other models. We also keep a limited inventory of factory Mighty Mule brackets, though our fabricated equivalents are usually the faster play when a gate is down. If we don’t have your exact part, we’ll tell you that on the phone before you pay for a service call.
If your gate is down and you need a real number today, call (725) 777-5391. Estimates are free.
